The heart of Friendship Circle is the belief that everyone can be a productive member of the community and benefit from the social support offered by one's peers. Friendship, acceptance and participation in social settings are vital to all children. Our volunteers give special needs children opportunities that they would otherwise might not have.
Jenny Poliakoff, of blessed memory, passed away in May 2007. She epitomized a Friendship Circle volunteer. Jenny always had a warm smile and cheerful “welcome” for everyone. Whether she was visiting a friend at home, shadowing a child in Hebrew school, bringing laughter to young ladies at a Bat Mitzvah celebration, or encouraging a new volunteer, she spread joy wherever she went. She touched the hearts of so many.
The Jenny Poliakoff Friendship Circle Endowment Fund is a perpetual fund in Jenny’s memory. All donations to the fund will be safely and wisely invested by the San Diego Jewish Community Foundation. The income will be used solely for Friendship Circle programs for children, teens, and young adults with special needs and the student volunteers.
